India’s Stern Stand After Pahalgam Attack: PM Modi Grants Armed Forces Full Operational Freedom
A Telling Response to the Worst Citizen Terror Attack Since 26/11
In the aftermath of the horrific April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir – the most deadliest strike on Indian civilians since the 26/11 Mumbai attacks – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the Indian Armed Forces unrestricted operational freedom to decide their reaction. The attack killed 26 civilians and has generated widespread outrage across the nation.
High-Level Security Meeting at PM Modi Residence

The meeting was attended by the Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and the chiefs of the Army, Navy, and Air Force – General Upendra Dwivedi, Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, and Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, respectively.
A 90-minute top-level security meeting was conducted at the Prime Minister’s house in New Delhi on Tuesday.
Sources revealed that during the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the need for a “crushing blow” to terrorism and reiterated India’s firm resolve against such threats. He assured the defence leadership that they have complete freedom to decide the mode, targets, and timing of any military response.
“Justice Will Be Delivered”: PM Modi’s Assurance
During In his monthly “Mann Ki Baat” radio speech, PM Modi addressed the nation directly, assuring that the attackers and conspirators of the Pahalgam attack “will be served with the harshest response.” He reaffirmed India’s stand against terrorism and said, “The whole world stands with 140 crore Indians in our fight against terrorism… Justice will be done.”
Tough Diplomatic Measures Against Pakistan
Alongside military preparations, India has launched a series of diplomatic countermeasures against Pakistan, widely believed to be the source of support for terror elements operating in Jammu and Kashmir. These steps include:
- Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty
- Closure of the Attari land border crossing
- Suspension of all visas for Pakistani nationals
In retaliation, Pakistan has closed its airspace to Indian airliners and suspended all bilateral trade with India.
Looking Ahead: National Security Takes Center Stage
The developments come just a day before the scheduled meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security, India’s highest body for national security decision-making, chaired by the Prime Minister. As tensions escalate, the government’s message is clear: acts of terror will not go unanswered.
India now stands at a crucial juncture — determined, united, and prepared to defend its sovereignty with strength and resolve.
