Operation Sindoor: Retaliatory Action After Pahalgam Massacre Claims 26 Lives
In a strong counter-terror operation titled ‘Operation Sindoor’, India launched missile strikes on nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) early Wednesday, May 7. This decisive military action comes exactly two weeks after the brutal Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir on April 22 that claimed the lives of 25 Indian and one Nepali civilian.
Uttar Pradesh on High Alert Post Operation

In the aftermath of the operation, Uttar Pradesh has declared a Red Alert across the state. UP Director General of Police Prashant Kumar confirmed on X (formerly Twitter) that all police field formations have been instructed to coordinate with defence forces and enhance security at key installations.
“UP Police is alert, equipped with resources, and fully prepared to ensure the safety of every citizen of the state. Jai Hind!” said DGP Prashant Kumar.
Targeted Strikes on JeM and LeT Bases
According to the Ministry of Defence, the operation was focused, measured, and non-escalatory. The targets included high-profile terror hideouts, specifically:
- Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) headquarters in Bahawalpur
- Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) base in Muridke
These locations are believed to be central in planning and launching cross-border attacks against India.
Government Reiterates Zero Tolerance Towards Terrorism
The Indian government emphasized that the operation was a direct response to the Pahalgam massacre. The Ministry stated:
“India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and execution. No Pakistani military facility was hit. However, those responsible for the Pahalgam attack will be held accountable.”
What is Operation Sindoor?
‘Operation Sindoor’ marks a significant moment in India’s counter-terrorism efforts. It reflects not only a military precision strike but also a clear message—that terror infrastructure across the border will not be tolerated.
